Slovenian Foreign Minister Announces Two New Cooperation Agreements with Ukraine
During her official visit to Kyiv, Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon announced the signing of two agreements between Slovenia and Ukraine aimed at strengthening regional and financial cooperation.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Interfax-Ukraine.
During a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Fajon informed that one of the agreements is a Memorandum with Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba. It concerns the provision of technical assistance in regional development issues and support for Ukraine in negotiations on EU accession, in particular regarding Chapter 22, related to regional policy.
The second agreement provides for technical and financial cooperation aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of development and reconstruction of Ukraine after the war.
Fajon stressed that this step will contribute to closer cooperation between the two countries: “This will really allow us to cooperate much better and more closely between countries.”
She also assured that Slovenia would continue to support Ukraine in the military sphere, in particular through participation in the EUMAM mission and the Coalition of the Willing, as well as in providing air defense capabilities.
“We have provided as much as we can, as quickly as we can. We have also joined PURL, especially when it comes to providing air defense. And we will continue to do everything necessary,” said Fajon, commenting on Slovenia's military aid to Ukraine.
In addition, Slovenia supports the use of frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine, while emphasizing the need for legally sound and financially justified decisions.
As The Gaze informed earlier, Slovenia joined the U.S.-led initiative to purchase American weapons for Ukraine, focusing on strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses.
