SpaceX Launches Next-Generation Spanish Communications Satellite for Secure Satellite Communications in Europe
Today, the American company SpaceX launched the Spanish next-generation communications satellite SpainSat NG-1 into space, Space.com reports.
The Falcon 9 rocket with the SpainSat Next Generation 1 satellite on board was launched at 02:34 CET from the spaceport in Florida.
The rocket placed the satellite into geosynchronous orbit, where it was deployed 31.5 minutes after launch. Now the satellite will reach its final position at an altitude of 35,786 km above the Earth on its own.
SpainSat NG-1 is a joint project of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Spanish company Hisdesat. ‘SpainSat NG represents a new generation of secure satellite communications in Europe,’ ESA said.
The satellite has enhanced communication capabilities, with its antenna providing faster data transmission, better security, and the ability to precisely direct communication beams to where they are needed.
