Sweden Pledges €2.27 Million to Boost Ukraine’s War Crimes Investigations

In a continued show of support for Ukraine’s pursuit of justice, Sweden has allocated €2.27 million to help modernize the Office of the Prosecutor General’s case management system.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the announcement made by the Swedish Embassy on the social platform X.
“Russian war crimes must not go unpunished. This is not just a slogan, it is a call to action,” the embassy wrote. “That is why we have decided to increase our support to the Prosecutor General’s Office.”
The digital upgrade is expected to streamline documentation, coordination, and evidence processing in complex war crimes cases, allowing Ukrainian prosecutors to respond more effectively to the unprecedented scale of violence and destruction.
Experts and officials stress that the path to accountability requires both technological modernization and the continued involvement of civil society.
Since the start of the invasion in February 2022, Russian forces have been accused of tens of thousands of violations on Ukrainian soil.
According to the National Police of Ukraine, over 154,000 criminal proceedings have been launched to date, investigating war crimes allegedly committed by Russian military personnel and their accomplices.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Sweden is allocating €50 million to NATO's NSATU (NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine) and NATO CAP (Comprehensive Assistance Package) projects for Ukraine, which are responsible for training Ukrainian military personnel.
