The 3rd Ukraine Peace Summit in Malta Gathers Representatives from Over 60 Countries to Work on the Peace Formula
The third Ukraine Peace Formula summit with leaders from Global South countries at the level of foreign policy and national security advisers has begun in Malta today. This was reported on the website of the President of Ukraine.
After two high-level international negotiation rounds in Copenhagen and Jeddah, Ukraine gathered partners for a two-day summit on October 28 and 29. National security advisers will discuss President Zelensky's 10-point peace formula, addressing various issues, from child abductions to the environmental damage caused by Russia's war in Ukraine.
"Currently, work is underway on five out of ten points of the Formula. These are 'Nuclear and Radiation Safety,' 'Food Security,' 'Energy Security,' 'Release of all prisoners and deported persons,' and 'Restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity and the world order.' Groups of states have been formed for the implementation of each point of the Formula," the statement on the President of Ukraine's website reads.
Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the symbolism of such a strong display of international unity taking place on October 28, the day Ukraine commemorates the Second World War and the anniversary of the expulsion of the Nazis from our territory. At that time, as the head of state noted, the Ukrainian people, together with other nations, not only fought against the Nazis and sought punishment for their crimes against humanity but also tried to create a security and peace architecture that would prevent a new global war.
"Now we see that the architecture created then did not work. But unity will work effectively. Unity of all who help Ukraine defeat ruscism. And we will defeat it. For sure. Unity of all in the world who work with us, together with all our partners, to restore the power of international law and the real weight of the principles and norms of the UN Charter," said Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Ukrainian Peace Formula consists of 10 points covering all aspects of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, based on the principles of the UN Charter and UN General Assembly-approved resolutions. Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that over the past year, the Ukrainian Peace Formula has gradually become global.
