German Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, expressed his position regarding the additional deployment of German forces in Poland. According to him, the presence of an additional German contingent, in addition to the already stationed Patriot battery, is not necessary. He made this statement in an interview with the Polish publication Rzeczpospolita.

He noted that Poland has highly effective armed forces of its own and provides significant support to Ukraine and the Baltic countries. The Minister also expressed confidence that Poland is actively working to enhance its military capabilities within NATO.

"I still remember the times when West Germany was the 'eastern flank' of NATO. We know what it is like to be vulnerable and particularly at risk. Thanks to this historical experience, our eastern allies can be assured that we stand by their side and support them with all our might in safeguarding our common security interests. I do not have the impression that additional German troops are needed in Poland, and so far, I have not received any signals in that direction," stated Boris Pistorius.

The German official also commented on the support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. According to him, Germany will support Ukraine as long as it is necessary.

"The conditions for ending the aggressive war waged by Russia against Ukraine, which contradicts international law, can only be determined by Ukrainians. We will support Ukraine as long as it is necessary to defend against Russia's brutal attack and dictate the terms of peace to them. For this purpose, we provide the second-largest military assistance in the world after the United States and the largest military aid in Europe, including air defense systems, tanks, artillery equipment, logistics, repairs, and more," said Boris Pistorius.

Previously, it was reported that Poland and Germany planned to open a repair center for Leopard tanks on Polish territory at the end of May. However, both countries have not yet reached an agreement on the details of the joint venture.

At the same time, the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, expressed his country's desire to join the nuclear sharing program among NATO countries. This is due to Russia's increased intentions to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.
