This is the same Geralt, but with a different flavor - Bagiński on the change in "The Witcher"

One of the executive producers of "The Witcher" series, Tomasz Bagiński, revealed that the creators of the show will provide a credible explanation to the viewers regarding Liam Hemsworth playing Geralt instead of Henry Cavill in the fourth season.

On June 29, viewers will be able to watch the first five episodes of the third season of "The Witcher" on Netflix, which is the final season where Henry Cavill plays the lead role. Bagiński stated that the plan to introduce a new actor in the same role not only exists but, in his opinion, also aligns with the spirit of Andrzej Sapkowski's works.

"I feel it's important to emphasize that what Henry created is very, very important for the series. He was a great Geralt, and I think we will all miss him. But at the same time, the series continues, and the idea of how we will portray Liam, without going into deep spoilers and details, really aligns with the spirit of 'The Witcher' - he promised. "What will it look like? Readers of Andrzej Sapkowski's books who are familiar with the fifth volume know that there are many variations of the same story. I think they will really enjoy it. So, while I will miss Henry, I'm also very much looking forward to Liam and the future. I think he will bring a different type of energy, but it will still be Geralt, just a slightly different version," added Bagiński. Henry Cavill is 40 years old, while Liam Hemsworth is 33. The replacement becomes even more necessary when you read what producer Steve Gaub says about the third season and Cavill's role.

"Henry has really developed this character, he himself has become more open. Here, Geralt is not just a witcher, he has also become a father and, to some extent, even a husband. His friendship with Jaskier has deepened. We have really great plotlines where Henry has invested himself and created an even more convincing character. His departure is painful, but we need to accept it as it has happened in many other franchises that have shown more than one Doctor Who, James Bond, or Spider-Man" - Gaub stated.

However, it is worth noting that in the case of the mentioned movies and TV series, with a change of actor in the lead role, the entire rest of the cast also changed, and a new version of the imagined universe was created. 

Meanwhile, nothing is known about any changes in the cast other than Cavill, so we may still be dealing with a situation where other actors and actresses will pretend that nothing has changed. And that can appear artificial.
