The United States is preparing to dispatch a delegation of senior generals to Moscow next week.

The Gaze reports this, referring to The Guardian, citing American officials.

The move follows Trump’s appointment of Army Secretary Dan Driscoll – a close friend and former classmate of Vice President J.D. Vance – as his new special representative for the negotiations.

According to the report, Washington has made it clear to Kyiv that it expects Ukraine to endorse the emerging plan.

One U.S. official suggested that intelligence sharing or logistical support could be reconsidered if Ukraine rejects the proposal, underscoring the unprecedented pressure the administration is prepared to apply.

“The Ukrainians were clearly told the U.S. expects agreement,” the official said. “Any changes will be decided personally by the president.”

Speaking at the White House, Trump again highlighted his personal relationship with Vladimir Putin and said he had anticipated a quicker resolution to the conflict.

“It takes two to tango,” he remarked, adding that if President Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not approve the proposal, Ukraine may simply “have to keep fighting” until it accepts the political reality.

Zelenskyy, for his part, signaled readiness to work with Washington “calmly and constructively” while offering alternatives to the draft.

The Guardian notes that a high-level U.S. military delegation recently visited Kyiv for consultations. American sources said the next step will be sending a group of generals to Moscow to present the plan directly to the Kremlin.

However, Russian officials quoted by the newspaper indicated that while Putin approves of the plan’s general outline, he still expects major concessions, including a legally binding guarantee against NATO expansion and the constitutional entrenchment of Ukraine’s neutrality.

Moscow may consider future EU membership for Ukraine only under a non-military model similar to Austria’s neutrality, the source added.

The proposal – crafted in Miami by Putin’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev and Trump’s representative Steve Witkoff without Ukraine or Europe at the table – has sparked fierce backlash.

In Ukraine, initial public reaction has been overwhelmingly negative, with many viewing the plan as one-sided and tantamount to capitulation.

European analysts have also condemned the draft: Constanze Stelzenmüller of the Brookings Institution called it “horrific,” warning it would make Russia “the dominant predator in Europe.”

As The Gaze previously reported, U.S. President Donald Trump said that sanctions against Russian oil companies Lukoil and Rosneft will remain in place during discussions on the American “peace plan.”
