Trump Raises Tariffs on China to Over 100%

The USA has imposed 104% tariffs on China, which came into effect on 9 April, White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said.
The Gaze reports it referring to CNN.
According to Levitt, since China refused to cancel its counter-measures, the tariff rate for China has increased by 50% from 54% to 104%.
Duties at this rate will be levied from 9 April, the White House spokeswoman added.
Initially, Donald Trump announced the introduction of 54% tariffs on all Chinese imports to the United States, the highest rate of any foreign country.
China responded by announcing that it would impose 34% tariffs on all US imports starting 10 April. This angered Trump and he said he would impose additional tariffs of 50% against China if it did not reverse its recent tariff measures.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called China's escalation of the tariff war a ‘big mistake.’
As The Gaze reported earlier, on 2 April, US President Donald Trump officially announced the start of a trade war with all countries of the world simultaneously, announcing tariffs of 10% to 50% on imports to the US depending on the country of origin.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned that the tariffs announced by Trump would seriously hit the global economy and added that the European Union was preparing retaliatory measures.
