Ukraine, US to Discuss Minerals Deal in Washington Later This Week

On 11-12 April, the Ukrainian delegation will hold technical consultations in Washington with the administration of President Donald Trump on an agreement on access to minerals.
The Gaze reports it with reference to Bloomberg.
The delegation includes deputy ministers of economy and justice. The government has hired an international law firm to support the negotiations. The Foreign Ministry confirmed the visit but did not disclose details.
This will be the first face-to-face discussion of the draft agreement. Previous consultations took place online at the end of March.
According to Bloomberg sources, the US side is offering Ukraine 50% of future revenues from key economic sectors as compensation for the support provided during the Joe Biden administration. Ukraine does not recognise this aid as debt and offers investors a share of profits in exchange for new investments.
The publication adds that Kyiv fears that such concessions could complicate further integration into the EU.
As The Gaze reported earlier, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who is negotiating Ukraine's mineral resources, announced a planned visit by a delegation from Kyiv.
The framework agreement on minerals between Ukraine and the US is ready and a detailed document with specific figures is planned to be developed in the future.
According to President Zelenskyy, there is already an updated draft of the subsoil agreement with the US. It is a completely different document compared to the previous ones, but it contains points that Ukraine had previously rejected.
