President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed during a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump that Ukraine agrees to a ceasefire on energy and civilian infrastructure and is going to continue peace talks in Saudi Arabia. The head of the Ukrainian state announced this on the social network X.

‘We instructed our teams to resolve technical issues related to implementing and expanding the partial ceasefire. Ukrainian and American teams are ready to meet in Saudi Arabia in the coming days to continue coordinating steps toward peace,’ he said.

The Ukrainian leader indicated that advisers and representatives of Ukraine and the United States at the next meetings ‘can agree on all necessary aspects of advancing toward lasting peace and security guarantees.’

Trump called the conversation with Zelenskyy ‘very good’ and added that much of the conversation was based on his conversation with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin yesterday ‘in order to align both Russia and Ukraine.’ He wrote about this on Truth Social. According to the White House, following the conversation between the US and Ukrainian presidents, Trump promised Zelenskyy to cooperate with him in finding Patriot air defence systems for Ukraine.

In addition, at a press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb in Helsinki, Zelenskyy outlined several key red lines for Ukraine in potential peace talks with Russia. ‘Not to lose the independence and sovereignty of our state, and to ensure that Russia never has an influence on the independence of Ukrainians,’ the Ukrainian president stressed.

He added that he did not want to discuss with Russia ‘what Ukrainian army should be like’ or ‘discuss economic security guarantees, where the main guarantee is the EU’.

Zelenskyy also mentioned the thousands of prisoners held by Russia, including not only military personnel but also journalists, political prisoners and civilians. ‘They should all be with their Ukrainian families. And those whom they tortured, we must get them to their families. Even those who died. These are unconditional things. And those territories that are temporarily occupied will never become Russian,’ Zelenskyy concluded.

As The Gaze reported, on 18 March, after a telephone conversation between the leaders of the United States and Russia, it became known that Putin rejected the US proposal for a 30-day complete ceasefire, which Ukraine had previously agreed to. Instead, he supported the idea of refraining from attacks on energy facilities for 30 days.
