Turkey Eyes $10 Billion Trade Boost from Ukraine Free Trade Agreement

Chief Advisor to the President of Turkey Yalçın Topçu stated that Turkey is interested in Ukraine ratifying the Free Trade Agreement as soon as possible, as this will contribute to an increase in foreign trade turnover between the countries to $10 billion.
The Gaze writes about it, referring to Ukrinform.
Topçu noted in an interview that the priority now is to ratify and implement the Free Trade Agreement between our countries as soon as possible.
According to him, this agreement will promote economic cooperation, improve living standards, remove trade barriers, and liberalize services. It will create conditions for stable and harmonious trade development, strengthen bilateral economic ties, and ensure fair competition.
The Chief Advisor also spoke about bilateral projects that are a priority for Ukraine's post-war reconstruction. He highlighted the following areas of cooperation: overcoming the humanitarian consequences of the war, developing the defense industry, transport, logistics, the energy sector and distribution networks, building housing and social infrastructure, as well as strengthening the private sector and integrating into world trade.
Negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between Turkey and Ukraine began in 2007. The agreement was signed during President Erdoğan’s official visit to Ukraine on February 3, 2022. Turkey ratified the agreement in 2024, and it is currently awaiting approval by the Parliament of Ukraine.
As The Gaze wrote earlier, Belgium and Turkey have formally become the newest members of the international drone coalition, a strategic initiative aimed at reinforcing Ukraine’s battlefield capabilities through modern unmanned aerial systems.
