Trump Announces 25% Tariffs for India Over Russian Energy and Arms Purchases

US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of 25 per cent tariffs on imports from India from 1 August.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to his post on the social network Truth Social.
According to Trump, the US did not do ‘much business’ with India because ‘their tariffs are too high’ and ‘they have the toughest and most unpleasant non-monetary trade barriers of any country.’
Trump also mentioned that India is one of the largest buyers of Russian energy resources and also purchases large quantities of weapons from Russia, ‘at a time when everyone wants Russia to stop killing in Ukraine.’
‘Therefore, India will pay a 25% duty, as well as a penalty for the above, starting on 1 August,’ the US president concluded.
As The Gaze reported earlier, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has cautioned Chinese officials that continued imports of sanctioned Russian oil could trigger tariffs of up to 100%.
