UK Allocates Over €40 Million for Energy and Humanitarian Support to Ukraine
The United Kingdom has decided to provide £35 million (about €42 million) in emergency support for Ukraine's energy system and the most vulnerable people, the British government has announced on its website.
20 million pounds of the total amount is intended for urgent needs to support the functioning of the power system - repairing damaged infrastructure, creating additional generation capacity, and protecting energy infrastructure.
In particular, the project will generate an additional 20 MW, which is enough for about 20,000 households.
15 million pounds is earmarked for humanitarian aid for the most vulnerable. Of this amount, £5 million will be provided through UNICEF projects, and £10 million through the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, for winter arrangement of collective living places for internally displaced persons and winter cash support.
