The United Kingdom has directed more than $1.3 billion derived from frozen Russian assets to finance military assistance for Ukraine.

The Gaze reports this, referring to the UK government’s announcement.

Defence Secretary John Healey also confirmed the measure during his visit to Kyiv on September 3.

The funds, totaling over £1 billion, have been used to purchase artillery shells, air defense missiles, drones, spare parts, and to secure new contracts for equipment maintenance and repair.

In Kyiv, Healey underlined that Britain is reassessing the readiness of its own armed forces and accelerating defense spending to ensure it remains prepared for a potential deployment in Ukraine if required.

He also discussed with Ukrainian counterparts the structure of multinational forces and tactical planning to reinforce operations across air, sea, and land domains.

The visit also marked the conclusion of London’s 50-day campaign to speed up the delivery of critical weapons. During this period, the UK provided Ukraine with 4.7 million rounds of small-arms ammunition, 60,000 artillery shells, missiles, and other munitions, more than 2,500 drones, over 200 electronic warfare systems, and other equipment essential for Ukraine’s defense.

“Britain is intensifying its military support, helping Ukraine to resist Putin’s illegal invasion while working with allies to build a ‘coalition of the willing’ that can secure peace in the future,” Healey said.

Healey also highlighted deepening ties between the UK and Ukrainian defense industries, developed under a 100-year cooperation agreement signed earlier this year.

London has already allocated frozen Russian funds to supply 350 ASRAAM air-defense missiles to Kyiv and pledged an additional £350 million ($472 million) in 2025 to scale up drone deliveries to 100,000 units.

As The Gaze previously reported, the UK recently confirmed that its Operation Interflex training mission for Ukrainian troops will continue until the end of 2026.
