UK PM Starmer Delivers ‘Unprecedented’ State Visit Invitation from King Charles III to President Trump

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived at the White House on Thursday at noon local time. US President Donald Trump personally came to the threshold of the residence to meet him. The leaders then continued their conversation in the Oval Office. During his long-awaited talks at the White House with Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the US president said that it was hoped that Putin would not violate any agreement that might be aimed at returning to Ukraine as much of the land seized by Russia during the brutal three-year conflict as possible.

Kier Starmer's meeting with Donald Trump comes at a crucial time in the Russian war in Ukraine and the future of the NATO alliance. Europe is now looking for leaders who can engage Trump in the future security of the European continent.

After the talks at the White House, at a joint press conference with the US President, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer handed Donald Trump an invitation from King Charles III to pay a state visit to the United Kingdom.

According to Keir Starmer, he handed Trump ‘a letter from His Majesty the King, in which he not only sends his best wishes, but also invites the President and First Lady to pay a state visit to the United Kingdom’.

The UK Prime Minister added that this would be Trump's ‘unprecedented second state visit’.

‘This has never happened before. It's incredible. It will be a historic event,’ he added, noting that the American leader had accepted the invitation.

Now representatives of both countries will work to determine the date of the visit, Starmer said.

Starmer is the second European leader to meet with the US president this week. 

On Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron visited the White House and discussed with Trump, among other things, the end of the Russian war in Ukraine.
