Ukraine and USA to Hold Talks in Saudi Arabia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that he will visit Saudi Arabia on Monday, 10 March. He will meet with the Crown Prince there, and after that, his ‘team will stay in Saudi Arabia to work with American partners’. He wrote about this on platform X.
‘Next Monday, I have a visit planned to Saudi Arabia for a meeting with the Crown Prince. After that, my team will stay in Saudi Arabia to work with our American partners. Ukraine is most interested in peace.
As we told @POTUS, Ukraine is working and will continue to work constructively for a swift and reliable peace,’ he said.
Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, confirmed that talks between the delegations of Ukraine and the United States on the Russian-Ukrainian war will take place in Saudi Arabia next week, Sky News reports.
Witkoff, who officially deals with the Middle East but has already participated in talks with the Russians, said that a meeting with Ukraine is being prepared.
At the same time, he welcomed the signal from Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Donald Trump after their failed meeting at the White House last week.
Witkoff said it was a ‘positive first step’.
He also noted that a meeting in Riyadh is currently being prepared, but could potentially take place in Jeddah. ‘The city is changing a little bit, but it will be Saudi Arabia,’ he added.
According to him, Washington is trying to agree on a framework for a peace deal and an initial ceasefire for Ukraine.
A Ukrainian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP that Andriy Yermak, head of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's office, will lead the Ukrainian delegation, which may also include Defence Minister Rustem Umerov.
Fox News host and White House correspondent Jackie Heinrich said that the meeting would be attended by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and President Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff.
According to Axios, the meeting will take place on Wednesday, 12 March.
As The Gaze reported, on 28 February, Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump failed to sign an agreement on joint mining in Ukraine. During their joint press conference, a dispute arose and they did not reach an agreement. The Ukrainian president left the White House early afterwards.
