Ukraine Confirms Strike on Saratov Oil Refinery and Russian Logistics Hubs
Ukrainian forces struck deep inside Russia overnight, targeting the Saratov oil refinery and multiple logistics facilities supporting the Russian army in the occupied Luhansk region.
The Gaze reports this, referring to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff’s statement, units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a precision strike on the Saratov refinery, one of Russia’s oldest oil-processing facilities, located in the Saratov region. The attack caused a fire at the ELOU AVT-6 refining complex after confirmed direct hits.
The Saratov plant, which processed 4.8 million tonnes of crude in 2023, is directly involved in supplying fuel to Russia’s military. Moscow officials acknowledged a drone attack on the facility earlier in the day.
In addition to the strike on Russian territory, Ukrainian forces hit key logistical targets in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region.
The attacks destroyed a warehouse of material and technical supplies in the settlement of Rozkishne and a mobile fuel-and-lubricants depot in Dovzhansk.
“The Defense Forces continue to systematically strike critical elements of the terrorist state’s military-industrial base to deprive it of the ability to wage war,” the General Staff said in a statement.
The assault comes amid a broader Ukrainian campaign to disrupt Russia’s fuel production and supply chains. Earlier, Security Service chief Vasyl Maliuk said Ukraine had carried out more than 160 strikes on refineries and related facilities across Russia, causing what he described as a 90% drop in oil output and a 20% domestic fuel shortage in recent months.
As The Gaze previously reported, on the night of November 2, Ukrainian drone forces carried out a large-scale attack on Russian territory, striking at least five power substations and oil infrastructure in the port of Tuapse.
