Ukraine Joins EU Sanctions Against Russia, Belarus, Iran

Ukraine has joined a series of EU sanctions packages against Russia, as well as sanctions against those involved in human rights violations in Belarus and Iran.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the Office of the President of Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy enacted three decisions of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) and signed decrees ensuring Ukraine's synchronisation with a series of EU sanctions decisions. As noted, this was the first stage in the implementation of the NSDC decision of 27 June 2025 ‘On the synchronisation of sanctions pressure by Ukraine, the EU and other members of the G7 on the Russian Federation and related entities’.
Thus, Ukraine synchronised its sanctions with 9-14 EU sanction packages, sanctions against those involved in human rights violations in Belarus, as well as EU decisions from 2011 and 2020-2025 regarding individuals involved in human rights violations in Iran and military support for the Russian Federation in the war against Ukraine.
In total, 403 individuals and 188 legal entities were subject to sanctions.
‘Our state continues to prepare the next sanctions packages for full synchronisation of sanctions policy with partners. Ukraine expects the international community to reflect and support Ukrainian sanctions as much as possible in their respective national decisions,’ the Office of the President said.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the EU has announced the official extension of sectoral sanctions against Russia for another six months.
At the same time, the new 18th package of sanctions, opposed by Slovakia and Hungary, has not yet been adopted.
