Ukraine Nears Ballistic Missiles for Deep Russian Strikes: Shmyhal

The Defense Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, said that Ukraine is close to creating its own ballistic missiles to strike deep into Russia.

The Gaze reports on it, referring to Interfax-Ukraine, citing BBC Ukraine.

According to him, this may happen in the near future. "The President of Ukraine has already announced that Ukraine will have its own ballistics. We are very close to this," the Minister stated.

When asked whether the opening of arms exports is planned, the Ukrainian Minister of Defense replied that the opening of full-fledged exports of Ukrainian arms is a political decision that is impossible during a war until the internal needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are satisfied by 100% or more.

"If there is a surplus of production, we must find ways to finance it and give it to our armed forces," Shmyhal said. 

In addition, he spoke about the situation of Ukrainian and Russian positions on the frontline.

Denys Shmyhal said that the Russians are putting pressure on Ukrainian positions almost along the entire front line every day, continuing their summer offensive, which is characterized by varying intensity of fighting. 

The Defense Minister sees no signs of the summer offensive ending yet. “But overall, the front is stabilized, the front line is stabilized. And the Russians are demonstrating their inability to make any breakthrough actions. And the Ukrainian defense forces are inflicting huge losses on the enemy, bleeding him out and exhausting him,” Shmyhal added.

The Gaze informed earlier that at the annual meeting of heads of Ukraine's foreign diplomatic missions, the newly appointed Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal outlined key defense priorities of Ukraine.
