Death Toll Rises to 28 Following Massive Russian Strike on Kyiv

The number of casualties from the devastating Russian missile and drone assault on Kyiv has risen to 28, as emergency crews continue to clear debris from one of the hardest-hit residential areas in the capital.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Ukrinform and Ukrainian officials.
According to Kyiv’s Military Administration Chief, Tymur Tkachenko, rescue workers recovered another body from the rubble in the Sviatoshynskyi district early Friday morning.
“The death toll now stands at 28,” he announced on social media, adding that 159 people have been injured, including 16 children.
The combined airstrike, carried out overnight on July 31, caused significant destruction across several districts of Kyiv, with dozens of residential buildings and public facilities damaged.
Emergency services report that 70% of the collapsed structures in the Sviatoshynskyi area have been cleared, and search operations are ongoing.
Earlier, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service confirmed that three children were among the deceased.
Ukrainian defense forces also released footage of the interception of a Russian Iskander-K cruise missile, which was among the weapons launched during the assault.
In response to the tragedy, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko declared August 1 a Day of Mourning, with flags flown at half-mast and all public entertainment events suspended citywide.
