Ukraine Offers Slovakia to Sign Bilateral Security Agreement
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has proposed that Slovakia sign a bilateral security agreement with Ukraine.
He said this at a press conference following talks with his Slovak counterpart Juraj Blanar and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava, Ukrinform reports.
Sybiha informed that the parties discussed President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula as the only and only way to a comprehensive, just and lasting peace, as well as Slovakia's contribution to its implementation.
‘I also addressed the Slovak side with a proposal to join the G7 Vilnius Declaration on Security Assurances for Ukraine and sign a bilateral security agreement. We have already signed 26 such agreements with partner countries,’ the Foreign Minister said.
The Foreign Minister of Ukraine thanked Slovakia for its firm support of Ukraine on its path to joining the European Union.
‘Ukraine's membership in the European Union is in the common interest of Kyiv and Bratislava... I am also convinced that Ukraine's membership in NATO is in the interests of both our countries and the whole of Europe, as it will lead to lasting peace and strong security. We are counting on Bratislava's support,’ Sybiha said.
He also expressed hope for further active participation of Slovak companies in joint defence and industrial projects in Ukraine.
‘This is a mutually beneficial cooperation that has already proven its effectiveness. We invite Slovak business to come and work in our country, as well as to take an active part in the reconstruction of Ukraine,’ the minister said.
As previously reported, Ukraine's new Foreign Minister, Andriy Sybiha, visited Romania as part of his first foreign tour after taking office.
