A regular meeting of national security advisers from 83 countries on Ukraine's "peace formula" was held in Davos, Switzerland, to discuss Ukraine's demands to end the war with Russia.

This was reported by Bloomberg and the Financial Times.

The meeting, which took place on the eve of the World Economic Forum in Davos, a Swiss mountain resort, was the fourth meeting that Kyiv has convened to promote its peace proposals. They include the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory.

This war, unleashed by Russia, is now approaching the second anniversary of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Andriy Yermak, head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, told reporters after the meeting that "open and very constructive talks" took place between "countries that want to be close to each other".

Western officials called the active participation of national security officials from India, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia, countries of the Global South that still maintain diplomatic relations with Russia, a positive signal of the meeting.

However, they said that the decision of China, Russia's most important ally, not to participate in the meeting dampened optimism. Russia itself was not invited.

"The participation of the BRICS alliance is very important because these countries have relations with Russia," said Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, who is one of the organisers of the talks.

"China plays a significant role. We must find ways to cooperate with China on this issue," he added, addressing journalists during the talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to speak at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday, followed by bilateral meetings with other leaders, after which Ukraine will hold roundtables with investors and business leaders on post-war reconstruction and the use of frozen Russian assets.

As a reminder, Ukraine House Davos was launched in 2024 to draw attention to the resilience of the Ukrainian people and unite like-minded people in global support of the country's path to victory over the aggressor country Russia and post-war recovery.
