Ukraine Destroyed Russian “Oreshnik” Missile System in 2023.
Ukraine hit one of Russia’s most secretive and horrendous missiles that Russia claimed to be very effective and deadly, The Gaze reports on it, referring to an internet analytical portal Militarnyi.
In summer 2023, Ukrainian defense forces destroyed one of three Russian Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile systems at the Kapustin Yar training ground in Russia’s Astrakhan region.
Head of Ukraine's Security Service, Vasyl Malyuk announced that the operation was carried out jointly by Ukraine’s intelligence services. The strike achieved “100% destruction” and was reported only to President Zelensky and a few foreign leaders.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine specified that the real name of the complex is not “Oreshnik” but “Kedr.”
It is known that the Russian medium-range ballistic missile was developed on the basis of the RS-26 “Rubezh.”
