On the night of 20 July, Russia attacked Ukraine with Iskander-M ground-launched ballistic missiles, 1 Iskander-K cruise missile, 16 Shahed 131/136 drones, and used one unidentified drone. Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions came under attack. The Ukrainian Defence Forces managed to destroy 12 Shaheds and one unidentified UAV.

Russian terrorists targeted energy facilities in Poltava, Sumy and Chernihiv regions of Ukraine.  This was reported by Ukrenergo. The company added that in certain areas of Poltava and Chernihiv regions, there were power outages in industry and household consumers. Currently, power engineers continue to restore power supply.

Therefore, today, on Saturday, 20 July, it is planned to import electricity from Romania, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary with a maximum capacity of 1,385 MW. According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

The situation in the energy sector remains difficult. There is a significant shortage of generating capacity in the system due to massive Russian attacks since the spring of this year, and shelling continues, especially in the frontline areas. Substations and power transmission lines often come under fire.

The ministry stressed that due to Russia's missile and drone attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, electricity supplies have been restricted throughout Ukraine.

9 GW of generating capacity has been lost.

In the Poltava region, an air raid alarm shut down equipment at a high-voltage substation, which led to a blackout of several overhead lines, substations and household consumers. A fire broke out at the substation. The fire has been extinguished. Consumers were partially supplied with power via a backup scheme.

In Sumy region, a fire broke out at a high-voltage substation during an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles, which led to a shutdown of equipment and loss of the substation's own needs. The fire was extinguished.

In Chernihiv region, a UAV attack shut down equipment at a high-voltage substation. Several substations, household consumers and a company were cut off from power. The inspection revealed a fire at the substation. The fire was extinguished. Consumers are partially supplied with power.

In Kharkiv region, a high-voltage overhead line was disconnected as a result of hostilities. Consumers were not cut off.

In Donetsk Oblast, ventilation equipment stopped working at a mine. At the time, there were 33 workers in the mine, all of whom were brought to the surface.

Power companies supplied power to 16,102 consumers who were cut off from electricity as a result of the hostilities. In total, 541 settlements remain without power due to the hostilities and technical violations.
