Ukraine, Slovakia Agree on Strategic Cooperation in Four Areas
Following intergovernmental consultations, Ukraine and Slovakia signed a total of four documents. This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian government.
The governments of Ukraine and Slovakia have signed a joint declaration that sets out the key areas of cooperation: strengthening political dialogue, building good neighbourly relations and supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The document also shows progress in the implementation of three key projects: the reconstruction of the interconnector between the two countries, direct railway communication, and the modernisation of border infrastructure.
The second document signed was a protocol on readmission, which improves the algorithm for returning Slovak and Ukrainian citizens to their countries of origin.
The third document is a memorandum of understanding between the Ministries of Education of Ukraine and Slovakia.
‘This is a roadmap for cooperation. It provides for support for Ukrainian students and teachers in Slovakia, direct cooperation between educational institutions, and cooperation in the field of innovation,’ Denys Shmyhal said.
The fourth document was a memorandum of cooperation between the ministries of agriculture. It envisages cooperation at the level of associations and farmers of Ukraine and Slovakia and strengthening of direct horizontal ties between them. In addition, the agriculture ministries of both countries will work together in the areas of animal breeding, plant breeding, and export development between the two countries. Attention will also be paid to scientific research in agriculture.
