Ukrainian and Slovak Governments Hold Talks on Energy Security and Infrastructure Projects
The heads of government of Ukraine and Slovakia have started a meeting on cooperation in energy security and infrastructure projects near Uzhhorod, Ukrinform reports.
Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Slovakia Denys Shmyhal and Robert Fico will hold the second intergovernmental consultations.
According to the head of the Ukrainian government, the parties will focus on discussing the roadmap - ‘a plan of joint activities that was signed during our first meeting.’ In addition to cooperation in infrastructure projects and energy security, the parties will also work together on economic issues.
‘A significant part of Ukraine's electricity imports comes from Slovakia, which has never refused to help,’ Prime Minister Shmyhal said.
The parties will also discuss strengthening support for President Zelenskyy's peace plan, Ukraine's membership in the EU, demining of Ukrainian territories, humanitarian support and the restoration of Ukraine.
According to Shmyhal, the governments continue to cooperate closely in defence procurement.
‘We expect the signing of bilateral documents between Ukraine and Slovakia as a continuation of our ‘new pragmatism’ policy,’ Shmyhal said.
