UKRAINE Support Programme Wins German Cultural Sponsorship Award

The support programme UKRAINE, established by the Ernst von Siemens Foundation for the Arts with the support of the Hermann Rötzm Foundation, has been awarded the German Cultural Sponsorship Prize 2025.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.
The ceremony took place in Düsseldorf.
This prestigious award, which has been presented by the Cultural Association of the German Economy since 2006, is the only cross-sectoral award in Germany for business contributions to culture.
The UKRAINE programme was launched in 2022 in response to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The programme provides Ukrainian museum workers and restorers with the opportunity to continue working in museums in Germany, supports the restoration of damaged cultural heritage sites, and promotes cooperation between Ukrainian and German institutions.
Some projects have been implemented with the support of Siemens Caring Hands e.V., including the creation of the Ukraine Art Aid Centre and the transfer of technical equipment to Ukrainian museums and libraries.
The programme has funded almost €3 million and supported more than 40 Ukrainian professionals. One of its current activities is the restoration of the stained glass windows of the Khanenko Museum in Kyiv, which have exceptional artistic and historical value.
Ukraine is actively using the mechanisms of the 1970 Convention to counteract cultural losses as a result of Russian aggression and to recover stolen property.
