Ukraine to Receive 1.8 Million Shells by Year-End Under Czech Initiative

Ukraine is set to receive around 1.8 million artillery rounds by the end of 2025 through the Czech Republic’s international ammunition procurement initiative.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Ukrinform.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Kyiv with his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavský, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha praised Prague’s leadership in supplying critical munitions to Ukraine’s armed forces amid Russia’s ongoing full-scale invasion.
“Czechia is making practical contributions to our shared security and defense. This is not just assistance but a vital contribution to Ukraine’s ability to defend itself. Thank you! We welcome the continuation of the ammunition initiative,” Sybiha said.
The initiative, launched by Prague in 2024 with backing from allied nations, sources ammunition from third countries for delivery to Ukraine. Last year, it supplied about 1.5 million shells of various calibers.
Sybiha also highlighted the use of frozen Russian assets to finance ammunition purchases as an example of “decisive and bold” policymaking, and welcomed the results of the program.
As The Gaze reported earlier, on July 22, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala reaffirmed his country’s steadfast support for Ukraine, specifically emphasizing cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and its ability to counter Russian drone attacks.
