Ukraine to Receive $800 Million from the US for Drone Production
The United States is preparing an $800 million aid package for Ukraine that will be used to finance the production of drones in Ukraine. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his address the night before.
He spoke about his talks with Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, who was on a visit to Kyiv, and recalled the announced $400 million aid package.
‘We are preparing another package - financing for the production of Ukrainian drones, $800 million. Ukraine is grateful for this support. We need to ensure that despite any political threats in the world, Ukraine can consistently defend its sovereignty and independence. This will definitely happen,’ he added.
Zelenskyy also said that he had discussed with Austin the implementation of Ukraine's ‘victory plan’ - ‘concrete steps that can implement the points of the “plan”.
‘We need the determination of our partners, and especially against the backdrop of information about North Korea's new role in supporting Russia,’ Zelenskyy said.
The day before, Lloyd Austin arrived in Kyiv on his fourth unannounced visit. In Kyiv, the Pentagon chief announced a new $400 million military aid package for Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during his meeting with Austin, they discussed defence priorities, winterisation and the expansion of the use of long-range weapons.
