Ukraine, Turkey Discuss Expansion of Defence Cooperation
During his visit to Ankara, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with Turkish Defence Minister Yashar Güler. The Ukrainian minister wrote about it on the X network.
According to Sybiha, one of the topics of the meeting was the expansion of defence cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey.
‘We discussed the expansion of mutually beneficial defence cooperation, as well as specific joint projects that strengthen our defence industries,’ the Ukrainian Foreign Minister said.
He also thanked Güler for his solidarity with Ukraine.
The Foreign Minister also met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. They discussed the ‘victory plan’ and ‘peace formula’ of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
Sybiha stressed that Turkey is a strategic partner of Ukraine, with which it seeks to develop friendly relations.
According to him, during the talks with his Turkish counterpart, he stressed the importance of avoiding competition between peace initiatives and splitting the world into blocs. ‘I am convinced that Turkey can play an important role in this,’ the minister said.
He added that he had informed his Turkish counterpart about President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's ‘victory plan’.
‘It is important to understand that this is not a replacement for the ‘peace formula’, but a practical tool for its implementation,’ Sybiha said.
The meeting also discussed efforts to ensure freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, defence cooperation, the reconstruction of Ukraine and the release of prisoners of war.
‘We also discussed the Turkish side's assistance in the release of prisoners of war from Russian captivity, including Crimean Tatars,’ Sybiha added.
