Ukraine, UK Prepare Agreement on 100-Year Partnership

Ukraine has officially started negotiations with the United Kingdom to conclude an agreement on the transition to a stronger and deeper partnership for 100 years to come.
This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine on its website.
The first round of talks took place, with the Ukrainian delegation headed by the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak.
He noted that the UK was the first to sign a security agreement with Ukraine, and now it is the first to work on a historic document on a 100-year partnership.
"We hope that the negotiations will be successful, so that this historic document will soon be signed by the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom," the Presidential Administration head said.
The future comprehensive long-term agreement will be based on the provisions of the 2020 Agreement on Political Cooperation, Free Trade and Strategic Partnership and the 2024 Agreement on Security Cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
"The new document should contain even more ambitious goals for our cooperation. We aim to enshrine unprecedented provisions in all areas of mutual interest: from security to economy, from energy to culture and art," said Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva, who also took part in the negotiations.
The intention to conclude an agreement on 100-year partnership between Ukraine and the UK was discussed during the visit of former British Foreign Secretary David Cameron to Ukraine in May.
Before that, in January, former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that his country was building a new partnership with Ukraine that would last for 100 years or more.
