‘Putler’ Banner Displayed on Russian Border in Estonia on 9 May

On 9 May, a museum in the Estonian city of Narva placed a large poster on the border with Russia, which puts a sign of equality between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Nazi Germany's leader Adolf Hitler.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to ERR.
The poster, which reads ‘Putler is a war criminal,’ is hung on the wall of Narva Castle, which faces Russia.
‘This is our message, which is a reminder of today's full-scale war and war crimes. Today, on Europe Day, we celebrate peace and freedom... At the same time, a full-scale war unleashed by Putin has been going on for four years next to us. We call a dictator a dictator, we call war crimes war crimes,’ said Maria Smorzhevskikh-Smirnova, director of the Narva Museum.
On 9 May, Russia marks the anniversary of the Soviet victory in the war against Nazi Germany. The celebrations are accompanied by traditional propaganda events such as military parades, concerts, etc.
As in previous years, large screens facing Estonia have been installed on the Russian bank of the Narva River to broadcast these events.
The Narva Museum has repeatedly displayed a similar poster on 9 May since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a firm statement ahead of Russia's planned May 9 military parade in Moscow, condemning any potential participation of foreign military personnel and warning it would be seen as a desecration of historical memory and complicity in Russia's war crimes.
