Ukraine, US, and European Allies to Meet in UK Ahead of Trump-Putin Talks

Senior representatives from Ukraine, the U.S., and several European nations are set to meet in the United Kingdom this weekend to align their positions before U.S. President Donald Trump’s upcoming talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Axios, citing informed sources.
The plan for the meeting emerged during a videoconference on August 8 between American, Ukrainian, and European officials.
Some NATO allies and Ukraine have privately voiced concerns that Trump might accept terms proposed by Putin to end the war without fully considering their positions.
Sources told Axios that Trump, in calls on August 6 with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and several European leaders, shared details from a meeting between his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Putin.
Putin reportedly indicated he would be willing to end the war if Ukraine ceded Luhansk, Donetsk, and Crimea to Russia.
Some participants understood that Putin might also be prepared to abandon claims to partially occupied areas of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, but Witkoff later clarified that the Kremlin was only offering to freeze its current positions there.
Ukrainian officials say they remain unclear on the full details of Moscow’s proposal or Washington’s stance.
One Ukrainian representative noted that even if Zelenskyy were to accept Putin’s conditions, a national referendum would be required, as the Ukrainian constitution prohibits the president from unilaterally surrendering territory.
Trump and Putin are scheduled to meet on August 15 in Alaska. Ahead of that meeting, Trump has been consulting European partners on the Kremlin’s ceasefire terms.
Zelenskyy has said Ukraine is ready for genuine steps toward peace but will not give up its land to Russian occupiers.
