Ukraine’s Allies Meet in London for Online “Ramstein” Talks, Air Defense Tops Agenda

The Ukraine Defense Contact Group, better known as the “Ramstein” format, convenes on Tuesday, September 9, in an online session, with several senior leaders attending in person in London.
The Gaze reports this, referring to European Pravda.
Among them are UK Defense Secretary John Healey, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.
According to the UK Ministry of Defence, the meeting is scheduled to begin at 17:15 Kyiv time.
Rutte, who is on an official visit to Britain, will join the session as part of his trip.
This marks the 30th gathering of the international coalition coordinating defense support for Ukraine, following the previous meeting, which was also held virtually.
In his evening address on Monday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy underlined that Ukraine’s main objective at this “Ramstein” is to secure additional air defense systems. “Strengthening air defense is goal number one – both for this meeting and for all our contacts in Europe and the United States,” he said, noting that preparations had been discussed in detail with Defense Minister Shmyhal.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine has also defined priorities for 2026, covering both critical equipment for the Defense Forces and funding requirements.
He emphasized the importance of unified, effective work by all state institutions in engaging international partners. “The Ukrainian army must be and will be consistently strong,” he stressed.
In general, the London session is expected to focus on Ukraine’s urgent air defense needs ahead of winter, as well as longer-term planning for security assistance.
