Ukraine’s Ivan Sivak Wins Historic Triple Gold at Para Dance Sport Worlds
Ukrainian para dancer Ivan Sivak has made history at the 2025 Para Dance Sport World Championships in Košice, Slovakia, winning three gold medals and securing Ukraine’s first-ever world titles in these disciplines.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Suspilne.
Sivak, together with partner Olena Dankevych, claimed gold in Combi Latin Class 2, a category featuring pairs in which one athlete performs in a wheelchair.
The duo finished ahead of six competing couples, with neutral teams taking silver and bronze. The win marks a major milestone for Ukrainian para dance sport – the first world championship gold Ukraine has ever earned in this class.
In addition to the pair performance, Sivak dominated the individual program, capturing gold in Freestyle and in Men’s Singles. According to Volodymyr Murin, deputy head of the Rivne Invasport center, this result reflects both the technical mastery and resilience of the Ukrainian athlete.
“Victories like these never come easily, especially now that neutral athletes are allowed to compete. Ivan faced them both in individual and pair events, and still took the top of the podium each time,” Murin said.
Sivak’s triple victory adds to Ukraine’s growing series of international sports triumphs this season. While Sivak was making history in Slovakia, another Ukrainian athlete set her own world record abroad.
Ukrainian freediver Kateryna Sadurska broke the global record in the Constant Weight No Fins (CNF) discipline, descending 86 meters at the Blue Element competition in Dominica.
She completed the dive in 3 minutes 32 seconds, praised by organizers for extraordinary technique and stroke efficiency – qualities especially demanding in no-fins freediving.
Ukraine has also been active in defending fair play in international sports. As The Gaze previously reported, officials from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Sports, and National Olympic Committee recently condemned the International Judo Federation (IJF) for permitting Russian athletes to compete under their national flag at upcoming tournaments, including the IJF Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi scheduled for November 28–30, 2025.
