Ukraine’s PURL Initiative Set to Hit $3.5 Billion This October

The budget for the PURL initiative, aimed at providing military support to Ukraine through the purchase of American weapons by European partners, will increase to $3.5 billion in October.
The Gaze reports this, referring to a statement made by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Pavlo Palisa on Telegram.
During the European Political Community summit in Denmark, the Ukrainian delegation, led by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held a series of meetings dedicated to strengthening military support for Ukraine and joint counteraction to Russian threats, in particular unmanned aerial vehicles.
Particular attention was paid to the PURL initiative, under which Ukraine's partners purchase American weapons and transfer them to Ukraine. The Ukrainian side thanked the participants in the initiative and called on other European countries to join the program.
The total budget of the initiative is expected to reach $3.5 billion this month.
In addition, the delegation discussed recent drone incidents in Europe with its partners.
“We know exactly who is behind this — Russia. And we also know how to fight it properly,” Palisa wrote.
He also noted that Ukraine is ready to join any European air defense programs.
“Only by combining our experience and potential will we be able to effectively counter Russian threats,” added the deputy head of the President's Office.
As The Gaze informed earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte held talks in New York during the UN General Assembly, focusing on the expansion of the PURL defense initiative. The Ukrainian leader praised NATO support and called PURL a breakthrough mechanism that has already accumulated $2.1 billion in just two months.
