Ukraine's State Emergency Service Becomes National Coordinator in EU Civil Protection Mechanism

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has become the national coordinator of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The Cabinet of Ministers has made the decision. This will help to ensure Ukraine's full participation in the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and create a legal framework for further work in this area.
Resolution No. 535 amending the Regulations of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine was adopted at a government meeting on 10 May this year.
The decision will help ensure Ukraine's full participation in the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. It also provides a legal basis for further work in this area.
As you know, the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism is a system of cooperation between the EU Member States and 10 member states (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine) aimed at preventing, warning and responding to emergencies in the EU and beyond, in particular through the provision of coordinated international assistance.
The Civil Protection Mechanism is administered by the European Commission and is regularly activated to respond to various emergencies within and outside Europe.
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale armed invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the EU Civil Protection Mechanism has been providing comprehensive emergency assistance to Ukraine.
