Ukrainian Film Academy and Netflix Launch $200,000 Grant Program for Screenwriters and Producers

The Ukrainian Film Academy, together with Netflix, has announced a grant programme for screenwriters and producers from Ukraine. The goal of the Grant Programme: Screenplay Development and Exclusive Online Sessions with EAVE Experts" is to help Ukrainian creators in Ukraine and around the world who have been affected or displaced by the war to continue and develop their work.
This was announced by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
The grantees will have a series of exclusive online sessions with EAVE experts to discuss the main trends in the industry. There will also be individual sessions from EAVE on script development and project development, which will cover strategies for financing and marketing.
The programme is open to original feature films of 70 minutes or more in length that are still in development at the time of application.
Under the terms of the programme, one screenwriter can submit a maximum of one project. One producer can participate in only one submitted project.
All submitted projects will be evaluated by four international industry experts who are not eligible to submit their own work for participation.
Based on the results of the selection, 20 projects will receive USD 10,000 each to develop a script for a film project with a team of a screenwriter and a producer, who must be citizens of Ukraine. All scripts will be translated into English by the Ukrainian Film Academy at the end of the programme.
