Ukrainian Forces Capture Two Chinese Nationals Fighting for Russia

Ukrainian forces captured two Chinese soldiers who fought as part of the Russian army during the battle in Donetsk region. This is reported by The Gaze citing the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“We have captured Chinese soldiers on the territory of Ukraine. Ukrainians in the Donetsk region engaged in combat with six Chinese soldiers. Two are in captivity. Accordingly, we have their documents, their passports, even credit cards. These are Chinese citizens,” Zelenskyy stated.
Adrii Sybiha, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs announced that China’s chargé d’affaires in Ukraine has been officially summoned to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to provide an explanation.
The minister emphasized that Chinese nationals fighting alongside Russia’s invading forces call into question China’s declared stance on peace and undermines Beijing’s credibility as a responsible permanent member of the UN Security Council.
“This is another country that militarily supports Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This is another one after Iran and the North Korean military. But there is a difference: the North Koreans fought against us on the Kursk direction, the Chinese are fighting on the territory of Ukraine. I think this is an important point that we need to discuss with our partners,” Zelenskyy added.
The two captured Chinese citizens are now in the custody of Ukraine’s Security Service. Investigations and operational actions are ongoing.
