As early as November 2024, the Russian military launched an active offensive against Ukrainian positions in the Kursk region, involving the North Korean military. Despite repeated attempts by the Defence Forces to counterattack, the enemy was able to significantly narrow the sanitary zone on Russian territory. In late February, the Russians launched an offensive against the city of Sudzha itself.
On 15 March, military analysts from the DeepState project reported the loss of Sudzha.
As The Gaze reported, back in October 2024, it became known that several thousand North Korean soldiers had arrived in the Kursk region of Russia to take part in a counter-offensive against Ukrainian troops. According to sources, these were soldiers of an elite unit of the North Korean Army.
