Ukrainian Foreign Minister in the US Reports Russian Threats to Strikes on Ukraine's Nuclear Energy System
During a meeting in New York with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha informed his Brazilian counterpart of intelligence data on the threat of Russia preparing strikes on Ukraine's nuclear energy system and the risk of a nuclear incident.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy posted this on social media platform X.
‘I also informed my Brazilian counterpart about our intelligence on the threat of Russia's preparations for strikes on Ukraine's nuclear energy system. This creates a risk of a nuclear incident. I urged Brazil to do everything possible to avoid such a scenario,’ the Ukrainian Foreign Minister said.
Sybiha also informed that during the meeting with Kamikawa, he thanked the government and people of Japan for their support and for the expected opening of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) office in Kyiv this autumn.
‘We coordinated further steps to promote President Zelenskyy's Peace Formula, strengthen the role of Japan and Japanese companies in Ukraine's recovery and increase energy assistance to our country,’ the minister wrote.
During his meeting with Vieira, Sybiha briefed him on the progress of President Zelenskyy's Peace Formula towards a comprehensive, just and lasting peace.
