Ukrainian movie ‘Editorial Office’ to be Screened at the Film Fest in Brazil

Ukraine’s Editorial Office movie will be screened at Fantaspoa Fantastic Film Fest in Brazil, one of South America’s most prestigious genre festivals, according to the Ukrainian State Film Agency.
Directed by Roman Bondarchuk, this satirical comedy is a joint production of Ukraine, Germany, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. Filmed in 2021 in Ukraine’s Kherson region, the movie takes on a deeper significance following the devastation the region endured after Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
Set in a small town in the Kherson region, the film follows Yura, a scientist at a natural history museum, who witnesses a deliberate forest fire. Determined to expose the truth, he joins the local newspaper, only to find himself entangled in a web of fake news and corruption. Meanwhile, as mayoral elections approach, the leading candidate continues making campaign promises—despite being in a coma.
Fantaspoa, known for its bold and avant-garde selection, has grown into the largest genre film festival in Latin America over its 20-year history. Held in Porto Alegre, the festival will run from April 9 to April 27.
