Ukraine’s Artist Maria Prymachenko Exhibition to Open in Lithuania

On April 24, 2025, the Pranas Domšaitis Gallery in Klaipėda will host the opening of two exhibitions: “I Give You Sunny Art”, showcasing 63 gouache works by celebrated Ukrainian folk artist Maria Prymachenko, the Gaze reports, citing LRT.
Prymachenko’s works, evacuated from the Zaporizhzhia Regional Art Museum, will be on display until September 14. Some pieces from 1960–1994 are undergoing restoration in Vilnius and will later be presented in full.
Known for her vibrant, surrealist imagery, Prymachenko has become a global symbol of Ukrainian cultural resilience. Her bright, fantastical works adorn banknotes, postage stamps, children's books and animated films.
Collections of her works are kept in 16 Ukrainian museums, and her exhibitions are held all over the world, from Dresden to New York. Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine in 2022, her paintings have become a symbol of the resilience of Ukrainian culture.
For example, “My House, My Truth” (1989) was sold at auction for 110 thousand euros to support Ukraine, and “A Dove Has Spread Her Wings and Asks for Peace” (1982) went viral online.
