Ukrainian Film "War Through the Eyes of Animals" to Premiere in New York
The world premiere of the Ukrainian film almanac War Through the Eyes of Animals will take place at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, from June 4 to 15, 2025, The Gaze reports, citing Detector Media.
The film consists of seven stories about animals caught in the war in Ukraine, most based on real events.
“The world premiere of the film is not only a recognition of our cinematic capabilities, but above all an effective platform for delivering important messages to the world. Because every movie, performance or book we create during the war tells the world who we are and what we are fighting for,” said producer and creator Oleh Kokhan.
Oscar winner and Ukraine’s ambassador Sean Penn stars in the short story The Eagle by Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi. The soundtrack features a hit by Imagine Dragons.
About 500 filmmakers worked on the project, filmed in both Ukraine and the U.S., with support from the European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films (ESFUF) and the Save Pets of Ukraine initiative.
The national premiere is expected in fall 2025. Viewers worldwide will be able to support military rehabilitation programs involving therapy dogs via a special link in the film’s credits.
Tribeca is a world-class film festival founded by Robert De Niro, which has been attended by more than 3 million people in New York over the 14 years of its existence, and its mission is to present independent films to the widest possible audience.
