Ukrainian National Holodomor-Genocide Museum Launches Virtual Tours for Schoolchildren Abroad
The Ukrainian National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide in Kyiv offers an online tour for students of Ukrainian schools abroad. This was reported on social media by Liubov Lyubchyk, Chair of the Ukrainian World Congress World Educational Coordinating Council (UWC WECC).
‘This is a unique opportunity to visit the museum from home or from any corner of the world by ordering a video tour available in Ukrainian and English,’ she wrote.
To take a virtual tour to Kyiv, you need to register here, where you should indicate the age of the students and the desired day of the tour.
For children in grades 1-6, the video tour is conducted in the format of a 10-year-old schoolgirl's story about visiting the Museum. The video uses sand animation to make it easier to get acquainted with an important topic.
Another video tour for teenagers and adults will help them learn more about the history of the Holodomor and see the Museum's exposition.
During the tour, participants will see unique exhibits of the museum, learn their stories and hear memories of the Holodomor of 1932-1933. The focus is on the story of the humanity that helped Ukrainians survive the genocide.
More information and registration are available here.
In 2024, the Holodomor Remembrance Day will be celebrated on 23 November.
The Holodomor has been officially recognised as genocide of the Ukrainian people by about 30 countries, as well as by the Catholic Church and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
In October 2023, the PACE adopted a resolution calling the Holodomor an act of genocide.
