Ukrainian Photographer’s Work Brings Frontline Stories to Lithuania

In the Lithuanian city of Marijampolė, a photo exhibition entitled “Fragments of People” by Ukrainian photographer Anastasia Zhdanova was opened at the cultural center. It shows the lives of mothers, children, military personnel, and civilians in the frontline and deoccupied territories.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to the Embassy of Ukraine in Lithuania on Facebook.
The exhibition shows the lives of people whom the author met in the frontline and the deoccupied territories. She seeks to convey not only images, but also emotions that usually remain off-screen: fear, loss, love, tenderness, and dignity.
“Her work focuses on ordinary Ukrainians whose lives have been forever changed by Russia's bloody war,” the message reads.
During the opening, guests could not only view the photographs, but also talk to the author. She shared her vision of the process of creating photographs and their significance in today's reality.
The exhibition was supported by Viktor Hamotskyi, Deputy Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania, who noted that the exhibition serves as an important testimony and helps the international community better understand the emotional dimension of events in Ukraine and the stories of the people behind each frame.
The event was also attended by Marijampolė Vice Mayor Artūras Visockis, Marijampolė City Council member Darius Kemeraitis, Marijampolė Rotary Club President Andrius Papečkys, board member of the “Nelzlamna Ukrainska Natija” Foundation Linas Mališka and, and volunteer Konstantinas Gudauskas.
The exhibition will be open until August 21, 2025, in the lobby on the first floor of the Mariampol Cultural Center (2 Vilkaviškio Street, Marijampolė).
