Over the first seven months of this year, Ukrainians working in Lithuania paid €65.2 million in taxes to the budget, which is €13 million or 25% more than in the same period last year.

This is reported by the Lithuanian broadcaster LRT with reference to the Ministry of Social Protection and Labour.

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian war, Ukrainian refugees working in Lithuania have paid €205 million to the country's budget, €45 million in 2022 and €95 million in 2023.

According to the Ministry of Social Protection and Labour, as of 1 September, 33,900 Ukrainians employed in Lithuania since the beginning of the war were working under employment contracts. Currently, the Employment Service offers them almost 2,000 jobs.

Almost every third Ukrainian (10.5 thousand) works in Vilnius, 4.8 thousand in Klaipeda, 4.2 thousand in Kaunas, and 2.3 thousand in Siauliai. The majority of them work in transport and warehousing (8.9 thousand), manufacturing (7.2 thousand), construction (6.7 thousand) companies, in the hotel sector and catering (3 thousand).

Almost 3,000, or 8.4%, of them work in highly skilled positions. Low-skilled and unskilled jobs are held by about 6.1 thousand, or 18.1% of Ukrainians.

The monthly salary of Ukrainians varies from the minimum wage (€708.42 per month after taxes) to almost €2 thousand.

As of 1 September, 2.6 thousand Ukrainian citizens were registered with the Lithuanian Employment Service, which is 16% less than a year ago (3.1 thousand). Most of the unemployed Ukrainians are women aged 30-49.

As reported, the Lithuanian Department of Migration explained that starting in September, Ukrainians who do not have temporary protection status will be able to work in Lithuania only after obtaining a residence permit.
