Zelenskyy Proposes Face-to-Face Meeting with Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Russia to move from exchanging statements and technical-level meetings to talks between leaders.

The Gaze reports on this, referring to his statement on social media.

"We hear statements from Russia, and if this is a signal of their serious readiness to end the war with dignity and establish a truly lasting peace, and not just an attempt to buy more time for the war and delay sanctions, then Ukraine once again confirms its readiness for a meeting at the leadership level at any time.

We understand who makes decisions in Russia and who must end this war. The whole world understands this too. Ukraine proposes to move from exchanging statements and meetings at the technical level to the level of talks between leaders. America proposed this. Ukraine supported it. Russia's readiness is needed," Zelenskyy wrote.

He also noted that the Ukrainian authorities see and support President Trump's efforts to end the Russian war, all the killings, and to achieve a dignified and lasting peace.

‘We are grateful to everyone in the world who supports the work for peace and helps us protect lives,’ the president said.

As The Gaze reported earlier, during a meeting with self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on 1 August, Putin said that he “positively assesses” the negotiation process with Ukraine in Istanbul. He also added that Russia could wait with the negotiations.
