US Announces Visit of Ukrainian Delegation for Minerals Deal

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who is negotiating Ukraine's mineral resources, has announced a planned visit by a delegation from Kyiv.
In an interview with Bloomberg, he said that the visit will be part of a discussion on a minerals agreement.
‘I think that the team from Ukraine will arrive at the end of this week or early next week,’ Bessent said.
He stressed that the parties are keen not to delay, as they consider the agreement important for both US and Ukrainian citizens and for the peace process.
On 1 April, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha confirmed that consultations with the US were ongoing to sign a ‘mutually acceptable text’ of the minerals agreement.
On 28 March, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had received an updated text of the agreement from the US. He stressed that Ukraine is not ready to recognise the assistance provided by the United States in recent years as debt.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump warned Volodymyr Zelenskyy of ‘big problems’ if he abandons the subsoil deal during a speech over the weekend.
As The Gaze reported, following talks in Saudi Arabia on 11 March, the presidents of the United States and Ukraine agreed that an agreement on the joint development of critical mineral resources in Ukraine should be concluded ‘as soon as possible’.
