US Provides Ukraine with Grant of Almost $4bn for Social, Humanitarian Aid
On Monday, 5 August, Ukraine received the first 3.9 billion dollars tranche of financial support from the United States in the form of a grant from the $60 billion aid package approved in the spring.
This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance.
The funds will be used to reimburse social and humanitarian expenditures: salaries for teachers, rescuers of the State Emergency Service and the public sector in general, as well as payments for internally displaced persons, low-income families and people with disabilities.
The United States is currently the largest donor of external financing to Ukraine among the countries of the world. Since February 2022, direct budgetary support from the United States has reached almost $27 billion, which is more than 25% of all assistance received.
Funds from international partners can only be used by Ukraine to finance humanitarian and social expenditures.
At the end of July, the EU disbursed the first €1.5 billion from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
Also in July, EU ambassadors approved the disbursement of the first instalment of €4.2 billion under the Ukraine Plan reform plan within the Ukraine Facility.
